Magic guard Victor Oladipo can still overtake Michael Carter-Williams

Oladipo scored 13 points in the fourth quarter alone.

Breathtaking Magic guard Victor Oladipo spearheaded Sunday’s 93-92 victory over the East-leading Indiana Pacers at the Amway Center in Orlando.

The 21-year-old Oladipo finished with 23 points, four rebounds, four assists and two steals.

Oladipo, who was taken second overall out of Indiana in June, is averaging 13.8 points, 4.4 boards, 4.0 dishes and 1.6 picks over 53 games.

Despite lacking a consistent jumper, the former Hoosier continues to aggressively drive to the basket and is maturing into a reliable scorer.

There’s no question that Oladipo remains an extremely raw talent who causes far too many boneheaded miscues.

Regardless, the Maryland native is also a defensive virtuoso who creates turnovers and flourishes in transition.

Hence, Oladipo will always find ways to contribute and produce on the hardwood.

A first-team AP All-American, Oladipo’s an aerial artist famed for diligence and preparation.

Sitting in the basement of the Eastern Conference Southeast Division, Orlando (16-37) is again a primarily hideous squad.

However, Oladipo’s lockdown skills, energy, and passion for the sport will eventually allow the Magic to spellbind onlookers.

Expect Oladipo to shine in next weekend’s NBA All-Star Rising Stars Challenge.

Subsequently, trailing frontrunner Michael Carter-Williams at the break, don’t be shocked if Victor Oladipo rallies to earn the 2014 NBA Rookie of the Year Award this spring in “The City Beautiful.”
