Matt Ryan will soon have plenty to cheer about.

With the two sides in a “good place,” Atlanta Falcons owner Arthur Blank wants to extend quarterback Matt Ryan’s contract in the “not too distant future.”

Only slightly lagging behind star passers Tom Brady, Aaron Rodgers, Peyton Manning and Drew Brees, the 28-year-old Ryan will likely net a deal worth $18-20 million annually.

A two-time Pro Bowl selection, the 6-foot-4, 217 pound Ryan led Atlanta to a 13-3 record in the NFC South and helped the team defeat the Seattle Seahawks in the divisional round of the playoffs last season.

Throwing 127 touchdowns, against 60 picks, for 18,057 yards since being taken third overall in 2008, “Matty Ice” is on the brink of becoming one of the preeminent signal-callers in the league.

The successor to Bad Newz Kennels’ mastermind, Ryan is the 70-year-old Blank’s wet dream.

Beloved in Hotlanta, expect an extremely wealthy Matt Ryan to have the Falcons competing for their first Super Bowl title in the “not too distant future.”
