Despite looking like a potentially dominant scorer, Orlando Magic guard Victor Oladipo says his ‘game is still about D’

Victor Oladipo should be Magic in Orlando.

Although impressing offensively throughout the Summer League, Orlando Magic guard Victor Oladipo said his “game is still about D” and handcuffing the opposition’s premier scorer.

Taken second overall out of Indiana by Orlando in June, the 21-year-old Oladipo has recorded 3.0 steals per game during organized scrimmages and constantly hovered around the ball.

Averaging 13.6 points, 6.3 boards and 2.1 assists over 36 contests as a junior during the 2012-2013 campaign, Oladipo is an extremely raw talent who has long been criticized for lacking a jumper.

Regardless, a defensive virtuoso who will create turnovers and benefit in transition, the Maryland native always finds ways to produce on the hardwood.

A first-team AP All-American, the 6-foot-5, 215 pound Oladipo is an aerial artist famed for diligence and preparation.

Removed from a 20-62 season in the Eastern Conference Southeast Division, Orlando is a primarily hideous squad.

However, Oladipo’s “D,” energy, and passion for the sport will eventually make the Magic sparkle.

A frontrunner to win the 2014 NBA Rookie of the Year Award, expect Victor Oladipo to dazzle with the Magic in “The City Beautiful.”
