If not for basketball, Anthony Davis was going to pursue a modeling career.

Clearly recovered from suffering an MCL sprain and bruise to his left knee in April, New Orleans Pelicans power forward Anthony Davis thrived in Thursday’s Team USA Showcase.

Shooting 10-of-13 from the field, the 20-year-old Davis tallied 22 points and seven rebounds in 27 minutes of action.

Taken first overall out of Kentucky in 2012, the 6-foot-10, 220 pound Davis averaged 13.5 points, 8.2 boards and 1.8 blocks over 64 games as a Hornet (27-55).

However, hindered by various injuries the entire season, the former Wildcat must add muscle and become more powerful.

Routinely approaching double-doubles as an All-Rookie First Team selection, a bulkier “unibrow” would utterly dominate the paint in “The Big Easy” this autumn.

Ready to somehow become an intimidating Pelican, expect a sturdier Anthony Davis to mature into one of the 15 preeminent ballplayers in the association during the 2013-2014 campaign.
