Now a 49er, Anquan Boldin will no longer give San Francisco’s defenders headaches.

Looking “as if he’d been playing with Colin Kaepernick for 10 years rather than a few weeks,” San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Anquan Boldin has impressed coaches this offseason.

Compiling 772 catches for 10,165 yards and 58 scores since debuting in 2003, the 32-year-old Boldin was acquired by San Francisco in March from the Baltimore Ravens for a six round pick in April’s draft.

An imposing physical specimen capable of overpowering defenders, the 6-foot-1, 220 pound Boldin will certainly become one of Kaepernick’s favorite targets.

Supplanting a concussed Alex Smith in November, the 25-year-old Kaepernick tossed 10 touchdowns, against three interceptions, for 1,814 yards in seven starts.

Completing the 40-yard dash in 4.53 seconds at the 2011 combine, the 6-foot-5, 230 pound Kaepernick additionally rushed for 415 yards and five scores on 63 attempts.

Surrounded by dynamic playmakers and backed by a solid defense, the youngster won’t need to focus on Boldin and the three-time Pro Bowler may not amass glaring statistics in 2013.
