Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III ‘needs to run more’

Robert Griffin III has “to be himself.”

Dynamic Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III told the Washington Times he “needs to run more.”

Redskins coach Mike Shanahan agreed and said the 23-year-old Griffin has “to be himself.”

“He’s got to be himself. Robert is Robert,” said Shanahan, 61. “We don’t ask quarterbacks to do anything in particular. We have a game plan going in. Whatever that game plan may be, we are hoping they execute it.”

Griffin’s displayed horrific footwork, looked slow as a runner and been tentative in the pocket following January’s reconstructive surgery to repair the ACL and LCL ligaments in his right knee.

Suffering the same injury as a Baylor University Bear four years ago, Kim Kardashian’s wet dream has thrown six touchdowns, against five picks, for 1,448 yards over five games this season.

Reportedly again able to finish the 40-yard dash in 4.3 seconds, Griffin’s also rushed 27 times for 149 yards.

RG3 hasn’t resembled the 2012 Offensive Rookie of the Year since quickly returning from a severe wound to compete in a collision sport.

Employing hideous mechanics as a quasi gimp, Griffin is directing the league’s 20th ranked attack and only completing 59.8% of his 209 attempts.

However, “Robert is Robert” scrambled for 77 yards in Sunday night’s loss to Dallas and Washington seems poised to soon breakout offensively.

Anything but a “cornball brother,” Griffin will eventually mend and guide the Redskins to their first championship since the 1991 campaign.

In the interim, expect Robert Griffin III and Washington to have a livelier attack on Sunday versus the Bears at FedExField.
