Vitali and Wladimir Klitschko are two of history’s premier heavyweight champions.

Legendary prizefighter Wladimir Klitschko wants to capture the WBC crown that his brother, Vitali, relinquished on Monday.

Vitali (45-2, 41 KOs), who in October announced his candidacy for the 2015 Ukrainian presidential election, has decided to focus on the political unrest that is ravaging his native country.

“It is, of course, my goal is bring the WBC title back to the Klitschko family,” said Wladimir, 38, who is currently ranked fourth in the pound-for-pound rankings.

Klitschko (61-3, 52 KOs) most recently exited the squared circle in October after easily defending The Ring, WBA, IBF, WBO and IBO heavyweight belts against inferior pugilist Alexander Povetkin.

All three judges ruled that Klitschko overwhelmed the 34-year-old Povetkin (26-1, 18 KOs) by a score of 119-104.

“Dr. Steelhammer” will first make mandatory defenses of the WBO and IBF championships against Alex Leapai and Kubrat Pulev.

However, by roughly autumn, Klitschko will be able to challenge whoever is wearing the WBC strap.

Leapai and Pulev are not serious threats and it’s hard to envision that Klitschko won’t continue to steamroll over a porous division.

Accordingly, expect Wladimir to “bring the WBC title back to the Klitschko family” within a year.
