Michael Thomas, the standout wide receiver for the New Orleans Saints, has been the subject of much speculation recently, particularly regarding his future with the team. There have been reports that Thomas wants out of New Orleans, and that the Saints may be looking to trade him. However, there are also indications that Thomas and the Saints could reconcile and continue their successful partnership.
Thomas has been a force on the field since he joined the Saints in 2016, setting numerous team and NFL records. He had a particularly impressive 2019 season, catching 149 passes for 1,725 yards and 9 touchdowns, earning him first-team All-Pro honors. However, his 2020 season was plagued by injuries, and he played in just seven games, catching 40 passes for 438 yards and no touchdowns.
The Saints were still able to make the playoffs without Thomas, but his absence was keenly felt, particularly in their loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the divisional round. With Drew Brees retiring and the team in a period of transition, there have been questions about whether the Saints can remain a top-tier team without their star receiver.
There has also been speculation that Thomas wants out of New Orleans, fueled by reports of friction between him and the coaching staff. In January, he tweeted, “They tried to damage your reputation. You saved theirs by not telling your side of the story.” Many interpreted this as a reference to his strained relationship with the team.
However, there are also indications that Thomas and the Saints could work things out. In February, new Saints quarterback Jameis Winston tweeted a picture of himself throwing to Thomas, with the caption “Can’t wait.” Thomas responded with a heart emoji. This suggests that at least some of the players are optimistic that Thomas will be back in a Saints uniform next season.
Thank you Jesus ????????

Additionally, Saints head coach Sean Payton recently commented on the Thomas situation, saying, “We’re excited about having him back healthy. He’s a tremendous player.” Payton also acknowledged that there have been “little bumps in the road,” but he believes that the team and Thomas can move forward.
It remains to be seen what will happen with Michael Thomas and the Saints. There is no doubt that he is one of the most talented wide receivers in the NFL, and losing him would be a significant blow to the Saints’ offense. However, it seems that there is still hope for a reconciliation between the two parties. If Thomas can stay healthy and the Saints can work out any lingering issues, there is no reason to believe that they can’t continue their successful partnership for years to come.
